Thousands of people from around the world, including Russia, Brazil, Norway and Germany, have converged on Tehran to attend the farewell ceremony for Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Residents have opened their homes and are providing free food and tea to visitors, while volunteers are staffing the prayer hall where the funeral is being held.
The surrounding streets are packed with mourners, but authorities reported no incidents during the morning prayers. Many Iranians who have never participated in public demonstrations are joining the event out of reverence for the deceased leader.
