Egyptian air defense forces showcased the S-300VM Antey-2500 missile system for the first time in a public ceremony, alongside a Ka-52 helicopter, during the opening of a strategic command center in the new capital. The system, ordered in 2014 and delivered starting in 2017, had not been displayed publicly before. The S-300VM is equipped with 9M83 missiles, capable of engaging short‑ and medium‑range ballistic threats. The S‑300V family was originally designed for ground forces and later adapted to counter American Pershing missiles.
