According to New York Times sources, Israel may have planned to target senior Iranian negotiators, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Kalafav, during U.S.–Iran talks. Washington allegedly urged regional allies to warn Tehran of the potential threat. Kalafav’s plane made an emergency landing in Mashhad after Iranian security received intelligence of a possible Israeli attack. Reports also claim two Israeli fighters entered Iranian airspace near the Iraq border.
