Russian authorities have begun a large‑scale expansion of drone manufacturing facilities in Alabaga, the main hub for producing the Shahed‑based Granz attack drones. Open‑source satellite imagery released by analysts shows new production plants covering more than 340 hectares within the Alabaga Special Economic Zone in Tatarstan, with key structures already under construction.
Alabaga remains the primary site for Russia’s Granz series, a domestically adapted version of Iranian Shahed drones. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly targeted the town with long‑range drones, yet the facility continues to grow its capacity, with plans to produce 60,000 long‑range attack drones and 50,000 decoy drones this year.
