According to information released by the Israeli Ministry of Defense and statements from Rafael’s CEO, the latest Iron Dome upgrade mainly targets software and operational improvements. No evidence has yet emerged of the new seeker, the upgraded Tamir missile, or a new radar being deployed.
The upgraded system is integrated with the Iron Beam and shares a joint Battle Management Center (BMC). It is also designed to counter saturation attacks, swarm drones, and advanced cruise missiles, with tracking algorithms refined from lessons learned in recent conflicts, especially operations against Iran.
Rafael, as the prime contractor, worked with IAI, its subsidiary ELTA Systems, mPrest (the command and control developer), Albite (laser source supplier), SCD, and Shafir Systems on the upgrade.
The Israeli Defense Ministry also announced plans to increase production capacity for Iron Dome seekers in Israel and the United States to enhance readiness for future conflicts.
