The United States has begun construction of three DDG‑137, DDG‑138 and DDG‑140 destroyers, while the DDG‑131 has been laid up. Despite efforts to catch up, the U.S. destroyer production rate remains below two per year and the delivery schedule lags behind the original procurement plan.

Japan is designing its next‑generation attack submarines with vertical launch silos modeled after the U.S. system. The new subs are expected to carry a mix of seven cruise missiles or three large hypersonic missiles, mirroring the payload configuration of the U.S. Virginia‑class destroyer.

The F‑119 Raptor engine has surpassed one million flight hours, roughly double the 500,000 hours flown by the F‑22. With an average of over 2,600 flight hours per fighter and recent upgrades that could raise annual flight hours to 160+, these aircraft may remain operational into the 2040s. However, the cost per flight hour is more than twice that of the F‑35A, and with only about 60% of the annual flight hours, the 180‑ship fleet is exceptionally expensive.
