In response to reports that $3 billion of Iran’s frozen assets would be released, a U.S. official posted to the Jazeera Al‑M newspaper that none of the assets have been freed and that no funds will be released until Tehran meets the requirements in the agreement. The official added that the United States must confirm how the money will be used. If the assets were released, the funds would be directed to buying U.S. agricultural products for Iranian consumers.
