China is actively developing modular containerized weapons that can be rapidly deployed on both naval and land platforms. The project, coordinated by the Beijing Institute of Technology with over 70 companies and research organizations, includes container modules equipped with electromagnetic railguns, ship‑based drones, anti‑ship and anti‑submarine systems, strike packages, air‑defence and missile systems, radar, electronic warfare, underwater warfare, personal defence, and command and control. Production capacity is slated at up to 2,000 units per year, enabling civilian vessels to be quickly converted into carriers of specialized military systems without extensive retrofitting. Tests are currently underway on the trial ship Zhongda‑79.
