The U.S. Central Command announced that, on June 27, U.S. forces carried out new airstrikes against several Iranian military targets at the direction of the U.S. president. The strikes were a response to an Iranian drone attack on the Panamanian oil tanker MT Kiku, which was carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil near the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Central Command statement, the targets included surveillance and monitoring infrastructure, communication systems, air‑defence sites, drone depots, and Iran’s maritime mine‑countermeasure capabilities.

A U.S. official told Fox News that the latest attack was larger than the one that took place the previous night and that Iran had chosen to strike another vessel after being given an opportunity to observe a ceasefire.
