The Wall Street Journal reports that damage to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain from Iranian missile attacks is far greater than initially estimated. The strikes, which occurred from late February through June, hit the fleet headquarters, satellite communications facilities, warehouses, residential buildings and other infrastructure, with reconstruction costs projected at around $400 million. The Pentagon is reportedly reassessing its force posture in the Middle East, including possible troop reductions in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, relocating equipment farther from Iranian missile range, and considering the transfer of some capabilities to Israel.
