Montenegro police, working with the FBI, detained a 39-year-old dual Iranian‑Turkish national in Kotor. He was wanted on charges of computer fraud conspiracy, hacking and identity theft. Authorities say he carried out cyber‑attacks since 2013 against more than 150 U.S. universities, causing roughly $3.4 billion in damages, and that the stolen data was used to benefit Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and other Iranian entities. His extradition will be reviewed by a court in Podgorica.
