Russia claims the Iskander-M ballistic missile has a precision of 5‑10 metres, using inertial guidance, satellite navigation and, at certain stages, optical targeting. Western analysts, however, estimate its combat accuracy typically ranges from 10 to 30 metres. Analyses of attacks in the Ukraine conflict show the missile has repeatedly struck high‑value targets such as air‑defence systems, command centres and ammunition depots. Most experts assess the operational accuracy of the Iskander-M on the battlefield to be between 5 and 20 metres, which is notable for a tactical ballistic missile with a range of about 500 km.
