Japan announced that after testing its Terra A1 and Terra A2 counter‑drone systems in Ukraine, it aims to field a defensive network of these drones by 2027 to protect military bases, radar stations, warships and other critical infrastructure. The Terra A1 is a multirotor drone with a range of up to 18 km, 15 minutes endurance and a top speed of 300 km/h, tested in Ukraine's Chernihiv region. The jet‑propelled Terra A2 can operate up to 75 km away, stays aloft for 40 minutes and reaches 312 km/h, with trials conducted in the Kharkiv region. Japan's Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA) said only systems proven in real‑world conditions will be commissioned, underscoring the importance of the Ukrainian trials.
