The prosecutor’s questioning of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the final round of mutual interrogation in the multi‑year “thousands” corruption case concluded after more than 90 sessions over the past eighteen months. The case comprises three separate indictments: one alleging receipt of irregular gifts from wealthy individuals in exchange for government favors; a second accusing Netanyahu of negotiating with newspaper publisher Arnon Mozes for positive coverage in exchange for undermining a rival paper; and a third involving more serious charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust linked to regulatory concessions granted to the telecom firm Bezeq in return for favorable reporting on a news website.
Netanyahu responded sharply, claiming that “what you did to me has never been done to any other public official,” before ending the questioning. His statements will be reviewed further as the case moves to the next stage of trial proceedings.
