A short‑range Pantsir‑S2 air‑defence system was reportedly destroyed by an FPV drone equipped with a Starlink relay in the Zaporizhzhia region. The low altitude and minimal thermal signature of FPV drones make them difficult for Pantsir radars to detect, limiting the system's ability to engage them with missiles or guns. Operators of the system are said to abandon their positions, leaving the drones unchecked and providing Ukrainian forces with an easy target. The incident highlights the growing need for additional counter‑UAV layers even for modern air‑defence platforms and logistical assets.
