Ukraine has launched a new performance‑based financial reward scheme to boost troop morale. Soldiers who help capture a Russian soldier can receive up to 100,000 hryvnias (about $2,230). Front‑line personnel in heavy combat zones may earn as much as 170,000 hryvnias per month ($3,800) depending on their mission and posting.
The program also offers 20,000 hryvnias for each reclaimed position, 40,000 hryvnias for each enemy position seized in offensive operations, and 15,000 hryvnias for confirmed enemy combatant kills documented with video evidence. The maximum monthly payout per serviceman is set at 460,000 hryvnias (over $10,000). The initiative comes as Ukraine faces manpower shortages, troop fatigue, and rising unauthorized desertions after more than four years of war.
