New images show that China’s Laning R6000 tilt‑rotor UAV, developed by United Aircraft, has moved from tethered hover trials to free‑flight and full flight testing. Weighing six tonnes, the drone resembles the American MV‑75 and can take off and land vertically like a helicopter, while cruising at about 550 km/h. It can carry a 2‑ton payload, has a range of roughly 4,000 km and an operational ceiling of 7,620 meters.
Experts say the R6000 could be used for logistics support, troop and equipment transport, rescue missions and military tasks such as reconnaissance and electronic warfare, and may operate from China’s new amphibious assault ships.
