Taiwan has equipped its Skyguard anti-aircraft guns with protective anti-drone nets to counter the growing threat of Chinese drones. Images show the system's 35mm twin-barrel guns are now surrounded by metal racks and nets to protect them from suicide drone attacks and stray ammunition. This reflects lessons from the Ukraine war, where protective nets and cages became widespread for military equipment. The Skyguard system, using Oerlikon GDF 35mm guns and fire control radar, is a key component of Taiwan's short-range air defense network against low-altitude aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and drones. Taiwan is preparing for potential increased Chinese drone use in any future conflict, making physical protection of air defense systems a core part of its defense strategy.
