Kraken Technology Group and Keppel, with support from the UK Royal Navy, successfully completed the first-ever air drop of an unmanned surface vessel (USV) from an Airbus A400M military transport aircraft under the Beehive project.

During the test, the K3 SCOUT vessel was dropped multiple times from approximately 400 meters (1,300 feet) using the UMCADS parachute system into sea conditions up to Sea State 4. The test demonstrated the ability to rapidly deploy unmanned surface vessels in contested or hard-to-access maritime areas.

According to the manufacturer, this technology enables aerial transfer of unmanned vessels and immediate mission commencement upon water landing, significantly increasing speed, range, and operational flexibility for unmanned maritime operations.
