The Turkish Mechanical and Chemical Industries Corp (MKE) announced a contract with Albania to supply six 105‑mm light howitzer Buran systems, along with ammunition. With this purchase, Albania becomes the second NATO member and second European country to acquire the Buran after North Macedonia.

The contract value and delivery schedule have not yet been disclosed. The Buran weighs about 1.7 tonnes and can be air‑lifted by Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters, designed to support rapid‑reaction units and light forces. Bangladesh was the first foreign customer in 2024, and North Macedonia entered service with six Buran howitzers in 2025.
