Bloomberg reports that if President Donald Trump agrees to lift the ban on selling F‑35 fighter jets to Ankara, Turkey would be next in line to receive the first shipment of six F‑35A stealth fighters. These aircraft were originally built for Turkey but delivery was halted after Ankara withdrew from the F‑35 program in 2019 to purchase Russia’s S‑400 air‑defence system. The transfer could signal Turkey’s return to the F‑35 program, following Trump’s remarks at a NATO meeting where he said he was willing to reconsider the sale. However, any agreement would still need to navigate U.S. legal restrictions and likely face opposition in Congress.
