A gunman opened fire on an Israeli soldier in Bint Jbeil last week, wounding the soldier. A tank on the scene responded by shelling the building. The Israeli army initially believed the gunman was killed. Later, it was discovered he was still alive and engaged in a firefight with Israeli soldiers who had surrounded him in the building. The soldiers demanded his surrender, but he refused, took his rifle, fired at the forces, and was killed in the exchange.
