According to Israeli outlet HaYom, the United States covertly approved a financial agreement between Qatar and Iran that allows Doha to transfer funds to Tehran in exchange for guaranteeing free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and preventing attacks on Qatari vessels. The deal, granted about a month ago, aims to stabilise global energy markets, lower oil prices and pave the way for a broader US‑Iran understanding. It gives Iran access to money held in Qatar, including transit fees for oil tankers and a credit line of up to $1 billion for commodity purchases. While the US Navy quietly allowed Qatari ships to operate, Washington maintains its public stance of imposing maritime restrictions on Iran. During Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Doha, direct contacts were made with US envoys Steve Wietkof and Jared Kushner, who oversaw the negotiations.
