According to an Axios report, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called former U.S. President Donald Trump to ask him to restrain Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s increasingly anti‑Israel statements. An American official said Netanyahu made the request and Trump listened. The official added that Trump might ask Erdoğan to moderate his tone toward Israel during a meeting on the sidelines of this week’s NATO summit in Ankara. The report also says Netanyahu asked Trump to refuse to approve sales of weapons systems that would help modernise Turkey’s air force.
