Germany has requested to purchase 400 Tomahawk cruise missiles Block Vb and three Typhoon ground launchers worth about €1.35 billion from the United States, but has not received a reply after more than a year. Berlin now proposes that, in addition to PAC‑3 MSE missiles for the Patriot system, Tomahawks be manufactured in Germany under license. Reports indicate that the U.S. has used roughly 30 % of its Tomahawk stockpile in the war with Iran, and that rebuilding the stocks could take around two years given current production capacity and export contracts with Australia, Japan and the Netherlands. Germany believes that, based on its experience producing Taurus cruise missiles and its defense industry capabilities, it could take on part of the production of Tomahawks and PAC‑3 MSE missiles. No official U.S. response has been issued to the proposal yet.
