Germany Says Iran Must Bear Cost of Hormuz Mine‑Clearing

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas told the German newspaper Handelsblatt that Iran would ultimately have to pay for any international operation to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz. He raised the question of whether European countries could offer financial incentives to Iran to secure its approval for a mine‑clearing mission.
