The Hamas media office announced that the head of the emergency committee of the Palestinian government has resigned ahead of the transfer of Gaza Strip administration to the National Committee for Gaza Administration. Government employees will continue their duties, and current heads of state institutions will remain as a temporary body until the transition process is complete.

Analysts suggest this move is more symbolic than substantive, aimed at buying time amid stalled negotiations for phase two of the ceasefire agreement. It also sends a message to mediators that Hamas accepts the entry of a committee of non-political technocrats into Gaza.

However, the resignation is not expected to bring any noticeable change to the current field situation in the Gaza Strip in the near term.
