Ukraine has carried out at least 194 successful attacks on Russian oil refineries since the beginning of 2026, an 11-fold increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Financial Times. In May 2026 alone, Ukraine conducted 16 attacks on Russian refineries, marking the highest monthly figure since the campaign began.

Russia's Defense Ministry claims it intercepted over 63,000 Ukrainian drones during the first six months of 2026. However, the rise in successful strikes suggests Ukraine has managed to intensify pressure on Russian energy infrastructure by increasing production of long-range drones.

The attacks are part of a 40-day strategic campaign targeting Russian military facilities, defense industries, logistics centers, and energy infrastructure.
