Egypt officially inaugurated its new strategic command center called "The Octagon" in the country's new administrative capital. The complex opened on July 4, 2026, with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi presiding over the ceremony.
Spanning approximately 89 square kilometers, the facility is significantly larger than the U.S. Pentagon and comprises eight octagonal buildings, each representing a branch of the Egyptian armed forces. Two central buildings dedicated to ministries are connected by secure corridors.
The Octagon is designed as a command, control, communications, crisis management, and coordination hub between the armed forces and various government agencies, positioning it as one of the most advanced military command centers in the region.
