Arena‑M is Russia’s first operational active‑protection system that uses radar to detect incoming threats and fires intercepting munitions to destroy missiles, rockets and anti‑tank projectiles before impact. The manufacturer says it can track targets moving up to 1,000 m/s at ranges up to 50 m. In January 2026, Russian officials announced a new software version that adds special drone‑countering capabilities, allowing it to track suicide drones, FPV drones and fiber‑optic guided models.
