Interim President Rodriguez said Venezuela activated its emergency response system immediately after the quake. He thanked foreign donors, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, and noted that the country requested international support right after the event. Rodriguez reported that almost all officials in the state of La Guaira were casualties and that the earthquake caused the complete collapse of 189 buildings. Search and rescue operations continue, and Venezuela will work with the IMF to establish a $200 million reconstruction fund. The death toll has reached 2,595.
