Historical data shows July is usually one of the strongest months for the U.S. stock market. Since 2005, the S&P 500 has averaged a 2.5% gain in July, more than four times the average growth of other months. Over the past 11 years, the index has never fallen in July, marking the longest positive run for any month in that period.
In 2026, the S&P 500 has already set 24 new record highs, placing the year among the top 20 since the end of World War II. Historically, when the index has experienced such a strong start, it typically gains an additional 6% over the following six months.
These seasonal patterns suggest that the upward trend in U.S. equities may continue into July.
