The Russian Defense Ministry said its air‑defence systems shot down a total of 63,993 Ukrainian fixed‑wing drones over Russian territory during the first half of 2026. According to the ministry’s figures, the number of intercepted drones rose from 5,394 in January to 17,832 in June. The figures have not yet been confirmed by independent sources, and some analysts question their accuracy. If the numbers are correct, Ukraine would have launched between 20,000 and 25,000 fixed‑wing drones toward Russian targets in June alone, an unprecedented scale of operations. In recent months, Ukraine has carried out numerous drone attacks on refineries, defence‑industry plants, ammunition depots and missile‑production facilities deep inside Russia, many of which have been corroborated by satellite imagery and independent reports.
