The U.S. Army conducted its first operational test of the autonomous cargo drone DropShip, developed by Pyka. The unmanned aircraft completed a 32‑kilometre supply mission, then accurately delivered a 91‑kilogram payload to the target area. It also demonstrated the ability to land on an unprepared, sloped runway and participated in a simulated casualty‑evacuation scenario.

DropShip can carry up to 249 kg and, thanks to its hybrid propulsion system, can fly for up to 45 minutes in a quiet, all‑electric mode while achieving long range. The Army is evaluating the drone for logistical support in combat zones where manned aircraft pose higher risks.
