Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that since the day Iran was effectively blockaded, the country has exported over 40 million barrels of oil – a figure that was reached in the last 10‑12 days. He added that 50‑60 days earlier Iran had not exported a single barrel and was fully engaged in the issue. The agreement in question specifies that free passage through the Strait of Hormuz will last only 60 days. Qalibaf stressed that Iran will not give up its rights in the Strait, describing the waters as Iranian territorial waters, and that sovereignty over the Strait belongs to Iran and Oman, with passage governed by arrangements set by Iran and consulted with Gulf coastal states.
