Japan’s 10th Mogami destroyer has entered service, with only two more frigates planned before the larger, upgraded version will join the fleet in the coming years. The ship features a small joystick that serves as the core of its single‑man control system, allowing a single operator to manage a 5,500‑ton floating platform’s thrust and direction. This system supports gentle maneuvers near the pier as well as combat‑ready operations. Thanks to high automation, the Japanese navy has reduced the crew from a normal 200 to just 90 personnel.
