Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that Ukraine had offered to halt long‑range attacks into Russian territory. He said the proposal came because Russia’s retaliatory strikes are more powerful, sensitive and destructive, posing serious consequences for the Kyiv government.
Putin also said Ukraine suggested limiting the conflict to Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and the separatist republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, allowing Ukrainian forces to withdraw from other areas such as Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Sumy.
He told Vesti that, given the shortage of human resources, the Ukrainian armed forces may see this as a lifeline, but saving Kyiv is not part of Russia’s plans.
