Israeli media outlet Kan reports that senior intelligence officials and the commander of the southern army region have warned that Hamas is preparing for a new phase of fighting. According to the report, Hamas is producing hundreds of bombs and anti-tank missiles each month, recruiting young men aged 18 to 22, training elite units, and attempting to smuggle drones and communications equipment from the Sinai desert while rebuilding its underground infrastructure across the Gaza Strip.

The officials also claim that Hamas still maintains field control, poses no serious threat to Gaza’s sovereignty, and has no intention of relinquishing power. Israel’s army has told the United States that a renewed military operation is necessary, but Washington has opposed a new war and seeks to maintain the current ceasefire framework.
