The Assembly of Experts, Iran’s highest clerical body, issued a statement urging officials to respect Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s red lines. The 62 of 86 members called for vigilance against perceived deception by external adversaries and insisted that observing the Leader’s red lines is a religious obligation.

The statement also demanded retaliation for perceived martyrdom, insisted that Iran’s nuclear rights should not be discussed in negotiations, and called for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, removal of sanctions, and withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region. It warned that any breach of the Memorandum of Understanding would be met with a strong national response.
