Russia's Ministry of Education announced that from September 1, 2026 the share of military training in the "Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland" subject will rise from 20% to 50% of class time. The course, taught to students from sixth to eleventh grade, will cover basic military skills, drone operation and field exercises. Officials also said that since 2020 a comprehensive program has been running to strengthen patriotic education in schools, including flag‑raising ceremonies, national anthem performances, instructional sessions, career guidance and cultural activities. Earlier, Russia reported a plan to train one million drone operators, with students expected to take part in the scheme.
