The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a statement condemning a recent U.S. air strike on Iran's southern coast near Sirik. The IRGC claimed the attack was justified by a disputed U.S. claim that a ship had taken an unauthorized route through the Strait of Hormuz. In retaliation, IRGC naval forces struck U.S. Army positions in the area, warning that any further aggression would meet a broader response.

The IRGC cited Clause 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which it says gives Iran authority over traffic in the Strait, and accused the United States of violating that agreement.
