Israel has agreed to hand over parts of its occupied areas in southern Lebanon to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF). The arrangement is described as a performance‑based framework and a roadmap rather than a full peace treaty. Two pilot zones – one north of the Litani River and another further south – will be placed under exclusive LAF control, with Hezbollah and other non‑state armed groups prohibited from operating there. Israel will retain a security buffer of roughly 10 km in the south for the time being. Hezbollah was not involved in the talks and has rejected the initiative.
