The South Korean Air Force carried out its first exercise focused on countering swarm drone attacks on June 23. Air defense units used eight M167 Vulcan systems to shoot down 44 of 50 low‑altitude drones approaching from about a kilometre away. The remaining six drones were neutralized with a portable laser system and five shotgun rounds. Colonel Nam Hyung‑ju said the drill tested existing systems against mass drone threats and will inform future capability improvements.
