Russian sources have released images showing Ukraine using the MAAWLR system built by American company Sierra Nevada. The modular platform can be mounted permanently or on light vehicles and trailers. It is capable of firing a wide range of missiles, including AIM‑9M, AIM‑120 AMRAAM, IRIS‑T, AIM‑132, R‑27 and the guided APKWS II rockets. The APKWS‑equipped version can carry 46 missiles and engage aerial targets up to six kilometres away, with overall engagement ranges reported between six and fifteen kilometres depending on the missile type.

Sierra Nevada says the system can independently detect, track, identify and destroy aerial threats. Reports indicate that since 2023, the BRAWLR/MAAWLR family has downed more than 400 aerial targets for an unnamed user. To date, 20 systems have been delivered and another 10 are prepared for shipment.
