Algeria is in talks with China to acquire 40 J-10C multirole fighter jets along with four KJ-500 airborne early‑warning aircraft. The North African nation, with a $317 billion GDP and a $25 billion defence budget, spends more on defence than the next three African countries combined (Morocco, Egypt and Nigeria). Algeria already operates Su‑35 multirole fighters and the fifth‑generation stealth Su‑57 "Felon," having paid $2 billion for 14 stealth fighters.
