U.S. defense contractor Anduril Industries is in talks to acquire Nissan's engine assembly plant located on the outskirts of Tokyo. The deal is part of Anduril's plan to expand military drone manufacturing in Japan. While no final agreement has been reached, the transaction would convert one of Japan's major post‑war automotive factories into a defense hub focused on autonomous weapon systems.
