The Israeli Defense Forces announced the successful elimination of Zaki Youssef Mahmoud Abu Mustafa, the commander of the elite Khan Yunus unit of Islamic Jihad. The officer was directly involved in the abduction of 12‑year‑old Israeli Yagil Yaakov during the Oct. 7 assault on Israel. Shocked images released after the attack showed him among the militants involved.
