Negotiations between Iran and the United States appear to have progressed further than earlier reports suggested. Qatar and Pakistan, acting as mediators, issued a joint statement saying the two sides have agreed on a roadmap to reach a final deal within 60 days. The current round of talks ended in Lucerne, Switzerland, and both parties consented to form a high-level committee to coordinate working groups on nuclear issues, sanctions, and dispute resolution, as well as a de‑escalation group to curb hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
The statement also noted that the new mechanisms aim to ensure effective implementation of any forthcoming agreement and to address broader regional tensions.
