The Czech Republic and Ukraine are examining a proposal to acquire ten L‑39NG Skyfox trainer‑combat aircraft, which could also be used to counter loitering munitions. The plan suggests that European donors of F‑16 fighters to Ukraine—Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Belgium—might fund the purchase. The L‑39NG, equipped by 2025 with under‑wing gun pods and 70 mm guided rockets, can serve as a low‑cost drone‑hunter. The estimated cost for ten aircraft is $250‑300 million, but current production capacity means the first jets are unlikely to reach Ukraine before 2028‑2029.
