Russian armed forces have reportedly fitted the Mi‑28N attack helicopter with a new electronic warfare system designed to counter drone threats. Images released by the Russian defence ministry show additional antenna housings on the nose, weapon carriage wings and tail, which analysts say are part of a suite to jam drone communications and possibly detect unmanned aircraft. The Mi‑28N, Russia’s most advanced attack helicopter, has been heavily used in the Ukraine war for close support and stand‑off strikes, and the rise of suicide and FPV drones has made helicopters vulnerable, prompting the addition of anti‑drone capabilities. It is unclear whether the upgrades will be standard across the entire fleet or limited to select aircraft.
